Discovering Pelvic Steaming
What is vaginal steaming?
What elements are required for steaming?
How do you choose which herbs to use?
Could I incorporate Chinese Herbs into this practice?
What are the benefits? Is it safe for everyone?
If you're new to vaginal steaming you may be asking some of the same questions I was. After researching and becoming certified as an Acupuncture Steam Therapist and studying Peristeam Hydrotherapy I can now answer these questions and more!
Yoni steaming is an ancient practice used by traditional cultures all over the world for postpartum care. Another common cross-cultural practice is for women to steam after they are done with their monthly bleed to complete their uterine cleanse .
It goes by many names: Yoni steam, Vaginal steam ,V-steam, Peristeam, or Pelvic Steaming.
It involves either sitting (on a throne, seat, or stool built specifically for this purpose) or kneeling over a pot of warm herbs. The goal is to position the body in such a way that is comfortable and allows the steam to gently bathe the entire pelvic region with warmth. Much like a facial is done to hydrate the skin, steam is known for its ability to bring circulation & moisture to any place it comes in contact with.
